What Is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a very effective and safe system of natural healing that has been tested and verified experimentally and clinically. It has been introduced into the lives of millions of people worldwide for over 200 years. It's based on the principle of 'fight fire, with fire', or 'like cures the like'. The idea is, if a substances causes symptoms in a healthy person, then it can also treat and eliminate similar symptoms in a sick person.

We all know consuming several cups of coffee late in the day will likely end with a sleepless night. The founder of homeopathy, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, found that giving diluted coffee to a healthy person who had no sleeping issues soon gave them sleepless nights from all the thoughts running through their heads. Miraculously, the diluted coffee was then given to someone with similar problems, and their thoughts slowed enough that they could fall asleep rather quickly. The founder labeled his discovery - Homeopathy. 'Homeo' means similar, and 'pathy' means suffering. The Lancet and the British Medical Journal having both published research on homeopathy effectiveness and the 200-plus years of clinical experience have confirmed just how useful this treatment can be.

During your first visit to a homeopath, you will spend 1-2 hours describing yourself and your symptoms in your own words. It allows you to take charge of your heath, and to feel that your experience of the world around you is unique to you specifically. Only you can say what a cold, rainy day or a hot and stuffy summer day will make you feel. The homeopath will analyze all given information and choose a homeopathic remedy that matches your physical, mental and emotional characteristics closely. There are over 2500 remedies to choose from, so this process may take some time.

The monthly follow-up visits are considerably shorter than your initial one, but not any less crucial for the success of your treatment. A professional homeopath knows how to evaluate your body's response to the remedy, ensuring the correct treatment is used and your body is in fact healing itself. If the process is at all lagging, your homeopath will decide if your body needs another boost to keep the healing constant.

The remedies are made from extremely small quantities of natural substances and are non-toxic. The remedies can be safely used with infants, children, adults and during pregnancy when administered by a trained homeopathic practitioner. These remedies are not limited to humans, as your pets or livestock can also be treated homeopathically. As far as prescription meds go, there are no known contradictions or interactions between these medicines and homeopathic remedies.

Virtually anyone can learn to treat themselves, or others, in simple first aid situations with homeopathy within a few hours time. In this age of technology, there are also many websites available online with remedies and treatments of the homeopathic variety. Although, consulting a professional homeopath for more intense or acute conditions will provide you with much quicker and more effective results than self-treatment without the extensive knowledge of the remedies.

Homeopathic Doctor
If you're concerned about the various side effects that you may be prone to by taking certain traditional medication, it may be a good idea for you to start learning more about natural remedies. Chances are you'll be able to find a homeopathic doctor in your city or state that can help you to restore your health using plant-based medications, but your appointment will most likely be very different from what you're accustomed to.

History of homeopathy
Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine, meaning that it is used by people as a substitute or as an addition to conventional Western medicine. Samuel Hahnemann is the founding father of this alternative practice that first began to emerge in the late 1700s. While Hahnemann, who was a German physician, did not use the term "homeopathy" until the early 1800s, he began speaking of a "law of similars" as early as 1796.

Isopathy, a sub-division of homeopathy
Isopathy is a type of alternative medicine that is related to homeopathy, but the two are not the same. They are similar in the fact that both isopathy and homeopathy are considered holistic treatments because the individual and not just the condition from which he or she is suffering is at the centre of any and all types of treatment. Isopathy is one of four types of general homeopathy.

Homeopathy For Flu
We all dread the winter months for many reasons. Besides all the back-breaking shoveling of snow, the flu is one of the biggest pains. The flu shot can be helpful with some strains of the virus, however a more natural and effective approach is available - homeopathy.

The safety of homeopathy for children
Homeopathy, an alternative form of medicine, is gaining popularity in mainstream culture, but is it safe? How safe is it? Is it safe for children? As parents, our children's health and well-being are our top priority. We want to keep them healthy and safe so that they can focus on developing other aspects of their life, like friendship and education.

Holistic Isopathy
Isopathy is a derivative of homeopathy that was invented by Johann Lux in the 1830s. Lux was in a sense both a disciple and a colleague of Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of modern homeopathy. Like Hahnemann, he was a member of the Economic Society of Leipzig.

Standard Homeopathic
Do you want to take a more natural approach to living? Are you tired of being on prescription medications? If so, you may want to consider standard homeopathic remedies that may give you the tools you need to change your life and improve your health. There are some major adjustments that you may have to make over time, but many people have reported having much more energy after switching to homeopathic medicine, and have even reported the elimination of sicknesses such as cancer and diabetes.
