Veterinary homeopathy

The success and reception of alternative forms of medicine, such as homeopathy, has led to extensions of its use into the world of animals. Veterinary homeopathy follows the same principles as classical homeopathy except that the patients being treated are not humans; they're animals!

While it may sound a bit odd to some people, the practice of homeopathy for pets is becoming more and more mainstream. If you're not a pet owner it may be difficult to understand the notion of alternative and natural medicine for animals, but for pet owners it makes complete sense.

In the grand majority of North American households, pets live indoors, have their designated eating and sleeping quarters, which often times is in addition to their habitual place of snoozing on their owners' beds, are bathed and brushed routinely, and are an integral part of the family. Pets are the children with fur and four legs.

Just as the tendency is growing for people to look to alternative medicines, including homeopathy, for themselves, their family and their children, pet owners are doing the same for their furry children. Veterinary homeopathy is part of providing care and well-being to the four-legged member of the family.

Veterinarians that employ homeopathic remedies on animals cite a number of benefits, such as:
    • There are no side effects;
    • There is an emphasis on the individual animal's symptoms, making it a holistic approach;
    • There is no suppression of symptoms; that may re-appear following conventional treatment;
    • There is no need to rely on diagnosis because the observed symptoms are what is treated;
    • The homeopathic remedies are not as expensive as some pharmaceutical medications.
    • There is complete reliance on the animal's own body to stimulate its own
      immunological mechanisms, making it a natural and humane treatment.

For many vets, the use of homeopathy as a humane treatment for animals is one of the most important aspects of veterinary homeopathy. This is because it is concerned with a holistic approach to wellness that will not simply mask the symptoms behind medications, but instead treat the underlying causes of the symptoms and bring about true healing.

Frustrated with the reoccurrences of symptoms in their animal patients that were only being suppressed by pharmaceuticals, some veterinarians that have turned to homeopathy are finding success. By combining several substances into a homeopathic remedy, veterinarians attempt to match every symptom and characteristic that an animal is experiencing. The homeopathic remedies seek to cure the disease. The goal is disease elimination, allowing the animal to return to a balanced state of well-being.

But, you might be wondering, just how recognized is the field of veterinary homeopathy? Well, the British Institute of Homeopathy offers a course in it as does the Vancouver Homeopathic Academy in Canada. Throughout North America there are also a number of Academies of Veterinary Homeopathy.

Across North America and the world, veterinarians are embracing the practise of homeopathy in their clinics as a way to bring about holistic healing for our beloved four-legged friends.

The safety of homeopathy for children
Homeopathy, an alternative form of medicine, is gaining popularity in mainstream culture, but is it safe? How safe is it? Is it safe for children? As parents, our children's health and well-being are our top priority. We want to keep them healthy and safe so that they can focus on developing other aspects of their life, like friendship and education.

Homeopathy and regulations
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates homeopathic remedies in the United States. Since the 1930s, the FDA has treated homeopathic remedies in a manner similar to non-prescription, over-the-counter drugs; meaning that people can purchase them at local drugstores and a prescription is not required.

The use of flowers in homeopathy
Bach's flower remedies are likely the most famous when it comes to homeopathic medicines that use flowers to cure. The Bach Flower Remedies – created by the homeopathic Doctor Ed Bach in the 1930s – total 38 in number and are designed to address particular characteristics or emotional states.

Homeopathy & Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis (or RA) is a chronic (i.e. lifetime or long-lasting) inflammatory disease that primarily attacks the joints (though it can affect other tissues and organs as well).

Homeopathic Doctor
If you're concerned about the various side effects that you may be prone to by taking certain traditional medication, it may be a good idea for you to start learning more about natural remedies. Chances are you'll be able to find a homeopathic doctor in your city or state that can help you to restore your health using plant-based medications, but your appointment will most likely be very different from what you're accustomed to.

Standard Homeopathic
Do you want to take a more natural approach to living? Are you tired of being on prescription medications? If so, you may want to consider standard homeopathic remedies that may give you the tools you need to change your life and improve your health. There are some major adjustments that you may have to make over time, but many people have reported having much more energy after switching to homeopathic medicine, and have even reported the elimination of sicknesses such as cancer and diabetes.

Homeopathic Hospital
You've been searching medical facilities to find the best care for a loved one, and aren't satisfied with the treatments that are being offered at conventional hospitals. If you know a little about naturopathy, or think that homeopathic medicine may be a realistic option, you may want to find a homeopathic hospital in your area that will serve your family well. The treatments that you will receive will most likely be much more customized than in a 'regular' hospital, and this could help in disease prevention as well.
